Bobby Kent, 1st Assistant Professional

Bobby Kent Juniper

 

"Bobby Kent was born and raised in Los Gatos, California and attended and graduated the University of Oregon in 2013. During High School, Bobby played on the football, soccer, and golf teams. And, won the league golf championship his senior year. Bobby is an avid tournament player, and has competed in many ORPGA events earning multiple first place finishes. In 2019, he qualified to compete in the U.S. Open Sectional Qualifying for a chance to play in the U.S. Open Championship. Bobby's current low round is a 60 from the combination tees at the famous Pasatiempo Golf Club.

In addition to his love for playing the game of golf, Bobby has a deep love for teaching and the golf industry. Bobby began his journey in the golf business while working in college at Emerald Valley Golf and Resort and fell in love with the industry. Bobby has had Assistant Golf Professional roles at the Oregon Golf Association Golf Course, Pasatiempo Golf Club (Santa Cruz, CA), and La Rinconada Country Club (Los Gatos, CA), and was promoted to Merchandiser during his time at La Rinconada. Bobby has executed many junior and adult programs for players of all types and ages at each of these facilities. Bobby has also served as the Assistant Golf Coach for the Sheldon Women's Golf Team from 2011-2013 helping them earn a State Championship, as a lead instructor for the First Tee of Greater Portland, and executed many Get Golf Ready programs.

Bobby's teaching philosophy focuses on developing players' physically and mentally to achieve their best selves. He believes in truly coaching a student and giving them the tools to allow them to chase their goals through their journey in golf. By using technology, emerging coaching techniques (both physical and mental), and playing knowledge, Bobby believes in creating drills and programs custom to each of his students. We all play differently, and we all have the chance to achieve our goals.
